  • The Comic Book Project

    It is a creative initiative that helps engage young people in planning, writing, designing and publishing their own original comic books. It is a creative project that has led to academic achievement, social awareness and community development. Which then allows the students to become active learners and content creators, instead of receiving and consuming information.

    Strengths:

    -          It allows students to express their diversity within the classroom which would connect to material for diverse cohorts

    -          They also do provide a training workshop which will allow teachers to further their knowledge

    Weaknesses:

    -          Having to pay for the services, such as getting them to come to the school to teach the students the idea of a comic book.

    -          A lack of lesson plans for teachers to use within the classroom, or get any ideas off them

  • ABC Education

    ABC education is an educational content to use at home and in the classroom, as the resources are free and offer a wide range of subject areas, such as math, science and geography etc. All resources are aligned to the Australian curriculum.

    Strengths:

    -          The resources are very accessible for all teachers and are all linked to the curriculum

    -          Has a wide range of resources for all year levels

    -          The website is very easy to access and doesn’t take too much to navigate it

    Weaknesses:

    -          As the content gets onto the older year levels, the amount of content that is being provided decreases

    -          Has a lack of material for diverse cohorts

  • Cool Tools For School

    It explores the ideas of storytelling and how it has become a topic of its own. This online service gives you the opportunity to keep up with web-based services and networking tools that can be used in a K-12 setting.

    Strengths:

    -          The website provides tools that can be used within the classroom and how it can be applied in the classroom.

    -          There are many ways for the teachers to be able to get the students to use this when they present within classes.

    Weaknesses:

    -          Doesn’t show a lesson plan that covers a certain subject, which can make it difficult for teachers to apply in classes.

    -          Material for diverse cohorts is very lacking in this aspect of the website

    -          You must align the tools with the curriculum yourself

  • Creative Spirits

    It is extensive resource for students, teachers and those who are interested in learning what they weren’t taught. The owner of the website has provided a handful of resources for the user to explore if they wish to gain deeper knowledge of First Nations people.

    Strengths:

    -          Has a massive supply of resources for teachers to investigate

    -          The website is easy to access and isn’t too hard to navigate around

    -          You can use the resources to connect to the curriculum and use within the classroom

    Weaknesses:

    -          There are no lesson plans for teachers to use within the classroom to help with their students learn.

    -          Can go against the curriculum if used incorrectly and not being able to teach the contents within the curriculum

    -          Even though it represents Indigenous people, it doesn’t have material for other cohorts
